Quinton de Kock Not Playing SA vs WI 3rd ODI

In a crucial news update, South Africa’s senior wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock is not playing the third and final ODI game against West Indies being hosted at the Senwes Park in Potchefstroom. The South African side will definitely be feeling very much under pressure after having conceded a poor 48-run defeat at the hands of West Indies in the second ODI encounter. West Indies have secured a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series after the first game got abandoned due to persistent rain.

South Africa will be playing the third and final ODI match against West Indies on Tuesday with a new captain and wicket-keeper as both Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock are not part of the playing XI. Bavuma felt some discomfort on his hamstring following the second ODI against West Indies. On the other hand, the stand-in captain Aiden Markram revealed that de Kock is also not playing as the Proteas team management has decided to try out some new changes as part of the preparations for this year’s ODI World Cup 2023. The ongoing South Africa vs West Indies three-match ODI series is not part of the ODI World Cup Super League and thus, South Africa have decided to make advantage of this opportunity in order to find the best possible playing combination.

Incidentally, Quinton de Kock scored a crucial knock of 48 runs off just 26 balls that included 5 fours and 3 sixes during the second ODI match against West Indies. In his absence, Heinrich Klaasen will don the wicket-keeping duties.

“Dave [Miller] comes in, Heinrich Klaasen comes in and Parnell comes in. Four changes in all [including Markram]. No points in this series, so good time to try things,” said South Africa stand-in captain Aiden Markram during the toss.
