Sachin posts heartwarming picture with coach Ramakant Achrekar

Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is always loved by cricket fans not just for his runs but also for his humble nature. This facet of Sachin was once again showcased as he posted a heartwarming picture with his first coach Ramakant Achrekar on Instagram.

 

Sachin posts picture with Achrekar and Kambli 

The former right-hand batsman posted a picture on Instagram with a caption, ‘A special afternoon with the person who taught us so much and made us who we are. His blessings are all we need to kick-off the TMGA Mumbai camps tomorrow.’.

In the picture, Sachin is seen with his childhood friend and fellow cricketer Vinod Kambli and their coach Ramakant Achrekar.

 

Sachin ventures into cricket coaching 

The Tendulkar Middlesex Global Academy (TMGA) is a collaboration between the former Indian batsman and Middlesex cricket club. According to Sachin, the TMGA focuses on producing good cricketers and good global citizens of the future. The Indian cricketer wants to offer the very best in cricket education, as much as possible, for their students.

 

The Tendulkar, Kambli, and Achrekar story

Sachin Tendulkar was taken to Shivaji Ground in Mumbai by his elder brother for cricket coaching. There the 11-year-old Tendulkar met Achrekar who became his first cricket coach.

Vinod Kambli played along with Tendulkar since school days and later joined him in India’s national cricket team. The duo of Kambli and Tendulkar shared a 664 run partnership during their school-days which was at that time a world record.

Achrekar is a highly popular coach in Mumbai and has coached several international cricketers including Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli, Pravin Amre, Ajit Agarkar and Chandrakant Pandit.

Achrekar also served as the selector for Mumbai’s cricket team and was honored with the Padma Shri award in 2010 for his services to the game.
