Former Indian team cricketer and a destructive batsman of all time Virender Sehwag believes Virat Kohli is the best batsman of his generation. Sehwag claimed that Kohli will most definitely break most f the legendary Sachin Tendulkar's record except one.
Recently, during IND vs WI ODI, Kohli smashed his career 43rd One-day international century and he is now just seven figures aways from breaking Tendulkar's 49 hundred in 452 innings.
In terms of runs, the Master Blaster has scored 18426 in his ODI career with an average of 44.83, whereas Virat in 230 ODI innings has scored 11520 runs at an extraordinary average of 60.31.
Well, talking about their Test career, then Tendulkar's has still the format's highest run-scorer with 51 centuries in the divine record of 200 Test matches and 329 innings. While Virat, on the other hand, has hit 25 centuries so far in 77 matches and 131 innings.
“At the moment, Virat (Kohli) is the best batsman. The way he is scoring centuries, the way he is scoring runs, he is the best. I am sure he will break most of Sachin Tendulkar’s records, Sehwag said in an interview.
“The one record no one can break is his (Sachin) 200 Test matches record. I don’t think anyone can break his record of playing 200 Test matches. I don’t think anybody can play more than 200 Test matches.” Sehwag added further.
“Kohli looks much more pleasing to the eyes in comparison with Smith”- Sehwag
Although at present times, Kohli is often compared to Australian astonishing batsman Steve Smith in terms of batting, especially in Test format. But according to Sehwag, the comparison is not appropriate as there is no doubt who is better.
Sehwag finished his conversation commenting “Virat Kohli is a much better player than Steve Smith. If you look at Kohli and Smith (while batting), Kohli looks much more pleasing to the eyes in comparison with Smith. He is the number one batsman in the world,”.
