Shikhar Dhawan’s daughter’s heartwarming gesture will leave you touched

Stellar Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan’s step-daughter, Aliyah Dhawan, on Saturday, took the internet by surprise with a shaven head photo that she posted on her Instagram. Following her father’s footsteps, the nineteen-year-old decided to go bald headed, but unlike he father, it was not a fashion statement that junior Dhawan was making. To the contrary, Aliyah, took this step to lend support to all cancer patients and their families.

Aliyah Dhawan's uplifting gesture

“Massive thank you to my parents @aesha.dhawan5 and @shikhardofficial for making me compassionate and confident like them. Thank you to my boyfriend @zakis_adventure for shaving his head with me and him and my sister for shaving my head and being so supportive always. Thank you to all my friends and family and everyone else for donating or even just sharing, it means so much to me. And last but not least thanks to my dogs for being cute. I have never personally been so affected by someone with cancer who is very close to me, but it doesn’t take going through it to know how painful it must be to them and their loved ones. If you can’t shave, cut your hair, if not then colour it, if not then donate, if not then spread awareness and share. It doesn’t cost much to help or support. Thank you again. Its been fun.” Aliyah said.

Shikhar Dhawan heaps praise

Dhawan joined thousands in showering praise for her daughter, and came up with a heartening message on Instagram-

“Beaming with pride on what she’s just done, my amazing daughter has decided to shave her head to show her support and help raise funds for the cancer patients. These are moments your heart is full of love, gratitude and immense pride. Proud of you my angel” He said.

Dhawan-who was set to make a comeback to international cricket in the ODI’s against the Proteas- will have to wait for an indefinite period of time, after the series against South Africa and the IPL both got suspended due to the Corona Virus outbreak.
