Shreyas Iyer Injury Update: Will Shreyas Iyer bat in IND vs AUS 4th Test? Here’s the update

The absence of Shreyas Iyer from the batting line-up during the fourth Test match between India and Australia raised speculations about his fitness. After Cheteshwar Pujara was dismissed, Iyer did not walk out to bat, leading to rumors that he might be injured. Instead, Ravindra Jadeja took his place on the field, which some experts speculated was a strategic move to have a left-hander in the middle with Virat Kohli.

On the fourth day of the match, Jadeja was also dismissed, leading to further speculation that Iyer would finally take to the field. However, that did not happen, as it was revealed that Iyer had picked up lower back pain and was taken for scans. His situation remains unclear, and it is not known if he will be able to come out to bat or not.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has provided an update on Iyer’s condition, stating that he has indeed been experiencing lower back pain. The scans will reveal the extent of his injury and whether he will be fit to play in the upcoming matches.

Iyer has been a key player for India in recent times, especially in the shorter formats of the game. His absence could be a significant blow for the Indian team, who are currently battling it out with Australia in the fourth Test match. However, the team’s priority will be Iyer’s health, and they will only allow him to play if he is deemed fit and ready to take to the field. Incidentally, the right-hander missed the opening Test match of the series due to the same back issue.

For India, the pair of Virat Kohli and wicket-keeper KS Bharat are at the crease at this moment and the hosts are still trailing by 145 runs with the scorecard reading 335 for 4.
