Shreyas Iyer has come of age in recent times with his batting heroics in the middle order. He is proving the worth of his abilities and vindicating the trust that team management has put on him.

Shreyas names Virat and Rohit as his idols
As per traditions, Yuzvendra Chahal takes the interview of stand-out player of the match in his quite famous ‘Chahal TV’. Yesterday, it was turn of Shreyas Iyer to join Chahal for the interview. Shreyas was quite upbeat about his form with the bat and added that he is enjoying the role of finishing matches for India. Shreyas has finished the game twice in a matter of a week in different continents.

Finishing games is the ultimate goal for any cricketer playing for India. I have looked upto the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for inspirations. They are always looking to get the jobs done for India.

Shreyas Iyer has also played with Rohit Sharma for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy. Apart from that, Shreyas has matured overall after his captaincy stints with Delhi Capitals in IPL and after getting valuable advice from the greats like Ricky Ponting. Shreyas is set to play a critical role for team India in the lead up to the T20 world cup in Australia this year in October.

India comfortably home in Auckland
India have started on a positive note in their tour of New Zealand. Chasing 204 for the victory, India never looked like bothering with their power hitting. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer played instrumental roles on either side of Virat Kohli to take India home.

New Zealand were mostly on the poor side with their fielding apart from a screamer from Martin Guptill to get Kohli out. But they must be rueing the fact that they missed out on opportunities at critical junctures.

Now, both the teams will be facing each other at the same venue of Eden Park on Sunday. Kiwis will be looking at getting on equals leading into the third match while team India will be looking to continue their winning momentum and giving a present to their fans on republic day.
