In a big news update, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have not included talented batsman Rahul Tripathi in their starting XI for their 9th encounter of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) season against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) being played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Even after winning their last match by 9 runs, the Sunrisers Hyderabad desperately need to continue this winning momentum for the remainder of the IPL 2023 season as they have managed to win just 3 games this year and suffered a total of 6 losses.

SRH vs KKR: Why is Rahul Tripathi Not Playing Today’s IPL 2023 Match?

During the toss, it was revealed that Rahul Tripathi is not included in the starting SRH playing XI for this SRH vs KKR match on Thursday. Interestingly, the right-handed middle-order batsman is part of the five substitute members out of which one can be used as an Impact Player at any moment in the game. However, Tripathi has not been in the best of forms with the bat so far in IPL 2023 season having mustered 170 runs from 8 matches at a poor strike-rate of less than 120 that includes just a single half-century. But Rahul is very much expected to come out as the Impact Player during the run-chase in this match against Kolkata Knight Riders.

“We would have batted first as well, we have tended to do well with a score on the board. We need to start playing good consistent cricket and tonight’s an opportunity, looking forward to a positive outcome. Batting needs to improve, bowling has been outstanding, but we’ve underperformed with the bat. Couple of changes in our 16 with Kartik Tyagi back in the group. He was injured for a while and is raring to have a go,” said Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Aiden Markram during the toss.
