Afghanistan have received a major blow ahead of their final match clash against Bangladesh on Tuesday. Skipper and key player Rashid Khan is yet to recover from his injury and hence is doubtful for the final match of the ongoing tri-nation series.
Rashid was struggling with an hamstring injury and he aggravated it by continuing to bowl in the last game against Bangladesh. With just 138 runs to defend the Afghanistan skipper had no other option left other than using himself to contain the Bangladeshi batsman.
Rashid bowled three overs in the match and ended with two key wickets. including the big wicket of Mahmudullah. Despite his impressive performance, Afghanistan lost the game as the hosts steered home in 19 over with four wickets still in hand.
Nazim Jar Abdur Rahim Zai, the team manager of Afghanistan said that he cannot say that he [Rashid] will be available for the final. Nazim noted that Rashid is doing well and let's see what's happening.
He explained that they will have two or three days for recovery and he hopes it is not that serious because Rashid is their captain and main player, and they will monitor him tomorrow and the day after to get a clear picture.
Rashid's absence will be a huge setback for Afghanistan as this is the final match and Rashid is their star contributor. Rashid's leg-spin has tormented several batsmen in the past and he is a wicket-taker. With the bat too he is more than handy and has the ability to score quick runs.
