Three reasons why India will beat Pakistan in Asia Cup 2018 Super Four clash

By Chaitanya Laxman

Cricket’s most enthralling rivalry is set to resume in the Super Four stage of Asia Cup as India and Pakistan face each other on September 23. This is the second time the two teams will meet each other in this tournament after the men in blue defeated Pakistan in a one-sided match on September 19.

This time too India will enter the field as the favorites as they have the edge against Pakistan in more than one department.

Here we discuss the reasons why the Indian team will win this encounter against Pakistan.

The red-hot form of India’s openers

Before the start of the tournament everyone was speaking about Virat Kohli’s absence but the stand-in captain Rohit Sharma and the other opener Shikhar Dhawan have proved that India’s top order still remains solid.

Both the openers are in terrific form and have given the team blazing starts in this tournament. And with the way things are going, stopping them seems impossible.

India’s spin web in middle overs

India’s leg spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have proved to be game-changers in the middle overs. Kuldeep showcased his prowess by dismissing Babar Azam in the first match with a peach of a delivery.

Pakistan are yet to find an answer to Kedar Jadhav’s side-arm spin bowling and now the presence of Ravindra Jadeja enhances the strength of Indian spin department.

Pakistan’s weak middle order

Afghanistan exposed Pakistan’s tottering middle order which is heavily dependent on Shoaib Malik. Haris Sohail and Sarfaraz Ahmed are going through a lean patch while the likes of Asif Ali have failed to make an impression.

At the moment Pakistan relies heavily on Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman to score runs. Zaman has struggled throughout the tournament and expecting Babar to bail out the team on every occasion is too much to ask.

Considering all these aspects The Indian team is the clear favorites for this match and a miraculous performance by a key player is the only way Pakistan can unsettle India.
