After the disappointing Test and ODI series loss against West Indies, Afghanistan Cricket Board has decided to remove Rashid Khan from the captaincy and handed it over to the experienced Asghar Afghan. Rashid Khan was appointed as the full-time captain after the horrible performance in the ICC ODI World Cup in England.
In Rashid’s tenure, Afghanistan has won the test series against Bangladesh, T20I tri-series was shared between Bangladesh & Afghanistan, won the T20I series against West Indies but lost the test and ODI series against the same opposition. Also, Rashid Khan’s form has been a worry since the World Cup had changed the mind of Afghanistan cricket board.

31-year-old Asghar Afghan has played 4 tests, 111 ODI and 66 T20Is. The statement from the board published in social media says:-

“As per the decision by ACB Top management, Senior player Asghar Afghan is reappointed as team Afghanistan’s Captain across formats.”

Twitter responds to U-turn by ACB

Soon after the announcement, Twitter has mocked the circus happening in Afghanistan Cricket.
