I have underachieved in my career: Gambhir

Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir who retired recently from international cricket feels that he has underachieved in his career. He also thinks that he needed a bit more support during his playing days.

In an interview given to an English newspaper, Gambhir introspected on his career. He feels that it was a mixed bag but honestly he doesn’t think he is in a position to judge anything just yet as there
are many emotions within him and around him.

He admitted that there are two World Cups, there are a few Test series etc. but he thinks he has underachieved.

He made it clear that if he had a bit more support may be things would have been far better. But he also made it clear that let bygones are bygones, he will still sleep well.

 

Gambhir has no regret on not getting a hundred in world cup finals:

When asked whether he regrets not getting those three runs in the finals of the world cup, he answered that not at all. He explained that he was happy to score 97 runs and not worry about the balance three he could not get.

He feels it all worked out well when the Indian team ended up winning the finals.

 

Gambhir reveals most difficult bowler and his favorite Player

Gambhir revealed that Muttiah Muralitharan was the most difficult bowler to face. He feels Murali was a magician and he used to watch Murali’s hand very closely and would pick him 7-8 times out of 10.

However, Gambhir didn’t name any single player as his favorite. He said that each of the players that he played with or against has to be world class.

He added that they are all exceptional talents as they have reached thus far and he respects all of them.
