The Holker stadium of Indore hosted the second T20 International between India and Sri Lanka. The cricket fans filled the stadiums after the disappointment of a washout in the first game. Indian batsmen and bowlers both impressed with their performances.

One six by Shreyas Iyer especially caught the limelight. Iyer cautiously started his innings but soon started playing his shots. His six of the Sri Lankan bowler Hasaranga was a mammoth strike. The Indian skipper Virat Kohli was impressed by his shot and conveyed his feelings to Iyer with his expressions.

Kuldeep Yadav and Navdeep Saini curtail Sri Lanka

Virat Kohli won the toss and asked the Lankan team to bat first. Sri Lankan had a solid start to their innings, and the openers managed to put 38 runs on the board before the fall of the first wicket. Washington Sunder gave India their first breakthrough. Kusal Perera stabled the innings, and the Lankan team managed to put a tally of 82 runs within 12 overs. However, the middle over demons of India were tackled for this game as Kuldeep Yadav gave essential breakthroughs to the men in blue during the period.

All the eyes were on Jasprit Bumrah as he was making a return from injury. However, another speedster stole the limelight. India’s latest pace sensation Navdeep Saini clocked more than 40% of his deliveries at more than 145 Kmph. Shardul Thakur also managed to bag three wickets in a single over. The Lankan team could only manage a score of 142/9 in their 20 overs, which was a below-par total considering the batting-friendly nature of the wicket.

KL Rahul strengthens his hold on the opening slot

The Indian openers gave India a solid start and made light work of the chase. KL Rahul again impressed with his batting and overshadowed the return of Shikhar Dhawan. Both the openers managed to put a total of 71 runs in 9 overs before KL Rahul departed. Shikhar Dhawan soon followed his opening partner to the dressing room. Shreyas Iyer (34) and Virat Kohli (30 not out) led the men in blue to a victory at a loss of three wickets and with 15 balls to spare.

Team India managed to hit three sixes in their innings. India has taken a 1-0 lead in the series and will look to wrap the series in the next match. The next game is scheduled to take place on 10th January in the MCA stadium of Pune.
