After losing two matches back to back, the Indian cricket team had to face criticism from every side. Angered fans and experts either blaming the team’s performance or the team Captain’s decisions. Losing the match wasn’t bad enough but having a bad inning and a 159-run defeat was the icing on a really bad cake.

Among the many voices sharing their opinion on the matter was former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag. The legendary cricketer and the first to be honoured as the Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World didn’t take team India losing very lightly. On twitter he said the following:

“Very poor from India. While we all want to stand by our team and support them when they don’t do well, going down without a fight is very disappointing to watch. Hope they have the confidence and mental strength to come back from this.”

Harsh words indeed from the sport’s legend. Expressing his feelings about being unable to see his team lose so bad as well as showing his faith in them to bounce back from this. Seeing how everyone except Virat couldn’t put on a good performance against the English hosts, many believe Virat should reconsider the team line up before the third match.

The Indian batsmen’s weakness has been exposed by the likes of Anderson and Broad. The two English players have been phenomenal in their playing and have kept India away from the victory they so desperately need.

India’s loss was largely due to the brilliant performance of James Anderson who knocked out both openers before Stuart Broad took out the middlemen. On the Indian side on Ravichandran Ashwin was the only one to cross the 30-run mark.

A performance like this is why Sehwag labelled the loss as “very poor”. He does not wish ill upon his team, he just wished they played harder and better after their first loss.
