Krunal Panday has finally made it to India's T20 international squad and if everything goes right, he will make his T20 international debut in the series against Windies. The all-rounder is, of course, excited about this opportunity and has also revealed that he wants to be like former India captain MS Dhoni.
Ahead of the Windies series, the left-hander spoke with the media and revealed how Dhoni has inspired him. He said that he was with the Indian team for a very short time when he was called up into the squad against England to replace Washington Sundar.
He stated that he observed Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) closely during those six days and told himself that he wants to be like Dhoni. Krunal said that he is inspired by the way Dhoni carries himself, his simplicity, grace, and he also feels that Dhoni has achieved so much, but is so down to earth.
At the same time, the left-arm spinner spoke about Rahul Dravid's support. He said that Dravid's inputs have been of great help. Dravid told him that you have to be a consistent performer, you have to play according to what the situation demands, rather than playing your natural game.
Dravid also asked Krunal to back himself, to stick to hitting the big shots, since he has the ability to do that.
The Mumbai Indians player also noted that he got married in December, and in January, he became the most expensive uncapped player in the IPL.
And a few months later he was picked for the Indian team in England when he least expected it since he was with the India ‘A' team there, and now he is set to play his first T20 international game. He feels the lady luck is working for him.
