The Indian U-19 stormed into the semi-finals of the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup beating Australia U-19 in comprehensively way. The match which was been played at the Senwes Park in Potchefstroom was won by India by 74 runs on the back of some spirited effort by the bowling unit. After being restricted to 233 for 9, the Indian bowlers came out with full power and bowled the Aussies out for just 159 runs. The chief architecture of the win was the right arm pacer Kartik Tyagi. He ended with figures with 4 for 24 from eight overs.

Kartik Tyagi get his man right after he has been sledged

Not only did Tyagi bowl fast and take wickets but he also gave a response to Oliver Davies, an Australian batsman who tried to sledge in the middle of his spell. The incident took place in the third over of the Australian innings. The Aussies were already struggling at 17 for 3 after three wickets fell in the first over, two of which belonged to Tyagi. In an attempt to put him out his rhythm, Davies pointed the bat to Tyagi and said something to him. Tyagi didn’t like whatever he said and responded as well in the middle of the pitch.

The very next ball, Tyagi bowled a brilliant outswinger. Davies tried as hard as he could to hit the ball through covers but he ended up edging it to the slips. Yashasvi Jaiswal standing in the first skip took a good catch. Watch the video here:

Well, Tyagi quite gave it back to the Australian batsman. His spell ensured that Australia got the worst start possible but losing four wickets inside the first overs. He came back in the 21st over to get his fourth and last scalp of the day.

Tyagi and co. cruise to the Semis

Kartik Tyagi has been really impressive in this World Cup with the quick pace and ability to swing the ball. During the last edition of the U-19 World Cup, India found three quality pacers in Ishan Porel, Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi. This year, Kartik Tyagi and Akash Singh seem to have taken that charge of forming a solid fast bowling pair.

Akash Singh also picked up three wickets and helped India to close the match. Both Kartik Tyagi and Akash Singh have been picked up by Rajasthan Royals for the IPL 2020. Another Royals’ recruit shined with the bat. Yashasvi Jaiswal played a crucial knock of 62 runs to help India reach a defendable total.
