Lahore Qalandars is the least successful team in the Pakistan Super League and even in the 2020 edition, the side hasn’t done well. They needed a magical performance to turn their fortunes in the tournament and that’s exactly what Australian wicket-keeper batsman Ben Dunk did on Tuesday.

Watch: Ben Dunk smashes 93; hits 10 sixes during the innings

Playing at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Ben Dunk smashed 93 off just 43 balls against Quetta Gladiators. During the 16th match of the season, Lahore batted first but didn’t get an ideal start. Dunk, who came out to bat at no.3 steadied the ship after three wickets fell for just 50 runs. Dunk joined hands with Samit Patel for a 155-run partnership to take Lahore to a mammoth score. During his knock Dunk hit 10 sixes and three fours. Watch the video of his amazing innings here:

Not only that, but the left-handed batsman from Australia also smashed four back to back sixes off the bowling of Mohammad Nawaz. This was his highest score in the Pakistan Super League. Samit Patel also scored 71 runs off just 40 balls. Ben Dunk, who is also the wicket-keeper of the Lahore side, has loads of experience of playing T20 cricket. He has played in the Indian Premier League, Caribbean Premier League and Big Bash League. Unfortunately, the 32-year-old hasn’t played a lot of international cricket having featured in only five T20Is for Australia. His knock lit up the Lahore stadium and surely his innings will be remembered in the time to come.

Dunk, Patel and Irshad script famous win for Lahore

The knocks of Ben Dunk and Samit Patel ensured that Lahore Qalandars posted 209 for 5 in their 20 overs. During the run-chase, Quetta Gladiators never got going as regular wickets kept stopping them from scoring freely. A quickfire 53 run knock from Ben Cutting took Quetta’s final score to 172 but they still lost the match by 37 runs. Salman Irshad picked four wickets for Lahore and bowled a tight spell giving away only 30 runs in four overs. This win was Lahore’s first in this season.
