Watch: Daryl Mitchell send Prithvi Shaw’s stumps on a cartwheel in warm-up fixture against NZ XI

New Zealand XI’s pace bowler Daryl Mitchell bowled a brilliant delivery to get rid of Indian opener Prithvi Shaw in the recently held practice match between India and New Zealand XI. India’s tour of New Zealand has been evenly balanced till now with the men in blue clean sweeping the Kiwis in T20Is and the BlackCaps clean sweeping India in the ODIs.

The ultimate decider

The Tests will prove to be the ultimate decider as to who emerges on top after the end of the tour. India who are currently the number one test side in the world will look to dominate and will try to maintain their reputation as the world’s most strongest test side.

Practice match ends in a draw

A three-day practice match which was played  between the hosts and the visitors ended in a draw on Sunday. Indian opener Prithvi Shaw, who went for a duck in the first innings played a quickfire innings of 39 runs in the second innings of the game but was undone by a ripper of a delivery from Daryl Mitchell.

Shaw was dismissed by a terrific delivery by Daryl Mitchell in which the ball pierced through the gap between bat and pad of the Mumbai based opener to take his middle-stump for a ride.

Shaw scored a duck in the first innings but returned back with a 31-ball 39 laced with six boundaries and one maximum.

Shaw and Mayank to open

India and New Zealand will lock horns in the Test series on February 21 at Wellington. Prithvi Shaw is expected to open the innings along with Mayank Agarwal as Shubman Gill who was India’s backup opener for the last few test series failed to impress in the practice match, he went back to the pavilion with scores of 0 and 8 in first and second innings respectively.

Both Shaw and Mayank failed to grab their chance in the ODIs but can prove a point in the upcoming Test series. Agarwal also played a good knock in the second innings of the practice match scoring 81 runs before getting retired out.
