Jasprit Bumrah who had been sidelined due to injuries had missed India’s home test season last year. It was fair to say that although Bumrah missed the test series against South Africa and Bangladesh, India did not miss Bumrah. In his absence, Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav stepped up and delivered the goods.

In fact in the iconic pink-ball Test at Eden Gardens, the 3 pacers took 19 off the 20 wickets available with one batsman retiring hurt.

Since then Bumrah has returned to full fitness and has featured in limited-overs games against Australia and New Zealand but the much-anticipated test series against New Zealand is on the horizon. Bumrah is eager to prove his mettle has undergone training sessions with full intensity.

Fun-filled moments

The intense practice sessions of both the teams have been hampered by rains in Wellington which is the venue for the first test between India and New Zealand. The players took some rest meanwhile Bumrah and Shubman Gill appeared for a rapid-fire question session. The video came out in the official BCCI website.

Bumrah revealed his most memorable moment in that rapid-fire round. When asked about it he said

Under 19 when I played my second game, it was against UP I took a fifer. It was second game I just started playing cricket and it was memorable

Bumrah came into the limelight when he took the wicket of AB De Villiers in an IPL game playing for Mumbai Indians. It was a surprise Bumrah didn’t mention that moment or his India debut in any format as “most memorable”.

All important test series

India will take on New Zealand in the first of two tests in Wellington on the 21st February. The second test is scheduled to happen on 29th at Christchurch and this series will be part of the all-important test championship that India is comfortably leading.
