India beat New Zealand in a thrilling Super Over to win the third Twenty20 International (T20I) of the five match series. With this India registered their first T20I series win in New Zealand. Rohit Sharma was the star for India as he smashed two sixes off last two balls in the Super Over to help India cross the line in a neck to neck tight match. Before Rohit’s efforts in the Super Over, it was fast bowler Mohammed Shami who had kept India alive in the game by conceding only two runs in last five ball of the regulation play.

In the recent instagram post of Indian wicket keeper batsman Sanju Samson, Mohammed Shami is seen saying the popular mollywood dialogue from the film Kumbalangi Nights “Shami hero aada hero” which translates to “Hey, Shami is the hero” while playing a game of table tennis to celebrate their series victory over New Zealand. This popular dialogue was also trending in South India when Shami took the hattrick against Afghanistan during the 2019 world cup. Sanju, who happens to be a malayali have even tagged this movie’s instagram account under his post with the caption “Nammude swandam Shami bhai!”  which means “our own brother Shami”. This post in which Shami speaks malayalam will surely come in as a surprise for Shami fans in Kerala.

Kohli credits Shami

Indian skipper Virat Kohli accepted that half-way through the second innings he thought the match had slipped away from their hands but Shami bowled brilliantly to “turn the game on its head”.

“I thought we were gone at one stage. Shami showed his experience and put a couple of balls outside the off-stump. On the last ball, we had a discussion and we came to a conclusion that we had to hit the stumps because otherwise there is a single anyway and we are gonna lose the game. Shami went for it, got the wicket and the game turned on his head.” Kohli said at the post-match presentation.
