Watch: Hilarious moment in Bushfire Cricket Bash, Ponting running to smash Walsh’s ‘moon-ball’

Courtney Andrew Walsh OJ, a former Jamaican cricketer known for his fierce pace had represented the West Indies from 1984 to 2001, captaining the West Indies in 22 Test matches. He was best known for his opening bowling partnership along with fellow West Indian Curtly Ambrose for several years.

He is currently Playing in the Bushfire Bash 2020 from the Gilchrist XI side, captained by none other than Australian legend Adam Gilchrist under the coaching of Sachin Tendulkar.

As it Happened..

It all happened on the 4th ball of the 4th over of Ponting XI’s innings being bowled by Courtney Walsh to Ponting. Walsh tried to beat Ponting through his variation but in this process, he ended up bowling probably the worst ball of his cricketing career, his ball landed nowhere near batting crease & went all the way over the keeper towards third man position.Meanwhile Ponting also followed the ball & tried to get his bat on it. All About Bushfire Bash 2020

Bushfire Bash was originally slated to be played at Sydney today but weather forecast prompted Cricket Australia to reschedule the game to ensure the best possible pitch and outfield conditions for the final of Big Bash League.

It is currently being played at the Junction Oval in Melbourne, where Gilchrist XI won the coin toss & have opted to bowl first.

Ponting XI: Matthew Hayden, Justin Langer, Ricky Ponting (c), Elyse Villani, Brian Lara, Phoebe Litchfield, Brad Haddin (wk), Brett Lee, Wasim Akram, Dan Christian, Luke Hodge. Coach: Sachin Tendulkar

The Bushfire Bash exhibition match is a 10-overs-per-side contest, with a five-over Powerplay, no bowling restrictions, and batters unable to get out from the first ball they face.Bowlers will not have any over limits, fielders can sub on and off as it suits, while captains will have the ability to sub batters in and out during an innings
