The battle lines have been drawn and India is all set to clash against England in the first match at Edgbaston on Wednesday.
Virat Kohli and Co. were seen on the ground training hard for the challenge ahead. India have already played their warm-up match against Essex as a part of the preparatory exercise and now they would be looking forward to firing all cylinders when they meet the hosts for the five-match Test series.
India had planned to reach Birmingham a day early to practice more, they had also cut short their practice match by a day but rain played a spoilsport for India. But as soon as the rain stopped, team India came out to train hard and make full use of the weather.
India coach Ravi Shastri has already conveyed the message to his opponents that his team believe in winning.
India will look forward to making the best use of the playing conditions in England to overcome the ghosts of their past.
India have shown their potential in South Africa when they grabbed the top spot in the ICC Test ranking, now they will be looking forward to showing the hosts why they are no.1.
Ajinkya Rahane, Indian cricket team vice-captain has admitted that the match is going to be a test of character and mind they take on each other in the bout of wits.
Rahane said,
“In terms of skill, both teams stand equally against each other. This is going to be a test of our mind and character here.”“We just want to go and play some good cricket without fretting much over the outcome. We do not want to go too harsh on ourselves. We understand that it is all about the mindset, it is all about adjusting to the playing conditions and handling the situation well,” he added.
