Rehan Ahmed has been announced in England’s XI for the third and final Test match against Pakistan scheduled to start from 17 December 2022.
The exciting 18-year-old legspinner has broken an all-time record as he gone pass former English cricketer Brian Close who made his Test debut against New Zealand at Manchester in 1949 when he was just 18 years, 149 days old.
At this moment, the right-arm leggie is 23 days younger and will play his debut Test match against Pakistan starting from Saturday. Rehan Ahmed has played only three first-class matches for Leicestershire in County Cricket where he has picked up as many as 9 wickets at an average of around 30. This is the first time since 1879 when an England cricketer will be making his Test debut after having played three or fewer first-class matches. Incidentally, the youngster has also scored a hundred at the first-class level.
