The wicketkeeper is one of the most important positions in the game of cricket and many players have graced the game. From Adam Gilchrist to Mark Boucher international cricket has seen some of the best players take the center stage.

When it comes to stats, South Africa’s Mark Boucher ranks first having scalped 998 wickets behind the stumps in all formats. The South African star only missed out on the magical 1000 wickets mark by two wickets before an eye injury forced him to retire in March 2012.

The former Proteas star played 467 matches in which he came up with the gloves in hand for all three formats. In 147 Test matches, Boucher came up with 555 wickets, comprising 532 catches and 23 stumpings during his time which is still the most for any wicketkeeper in the world.

In ODIs, he was again at his best pouncing on 424 occasions, including 402 catches and 22 stumpings. Moreover, Boucher was also efficient with the run-outs which saw him take the center stage. The T20I Boucher had a brief spell and caught his opposition number 18 times while there was only one solitary stumping attempt for him.

With the work rate he had, Boucher was lethal and one of the best products of his generation who scalped wickets left, right and center. Adam Gilchrist and MS Dhoni also come in with honourable mentions in the tally of best wicketkeeper and both have World Cup-winning medals around their neck, something Boucher missed out on.
