Wicket-keeper batsman and star player for Bangladesh, Mushfiqur Rahim is doubtful for the match against Windies in the ICC World Cup 2019 as he has been hit on his right hand during training. The possible absence of Rahim will be a massive dent for Bangladesh as he is their key batsman and a senior member of their side.

Rahim walks off the ground after being hit on hand

The Bangladesh team was having a training session on Saturday ahead of their clash against Windies. During this session, a ball hit on Rahim’s right hand and he was in severe trouble. He immediately removed the gloves and was seen walking off the ground alongside other medical support staff of the team.

Mushfiqur has experience of 208 ODIs and has scored 569 ODI runs with six hundreds. Importantly he is in good form in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 as he scored a fighting knock of 44 runs against England and played a match-winning inning of 78 runs against South Africa.

He also performs the task of the wicket-keeper and has 213 ODI dismissals under his belt behind the stumps. Hence his injury is a big headache for the Bangladesh team management.

Shakib Al Hasan, another key player for Bangladesh is also having some trouble in his left thigh while skipper Mashrafe Mortaza is also not at his best thanks to his hamstring.

Possible replacement for Rahim

Bangladesh’s next match in the World Cup is against Windies on Monday. Bangladesh has won only one of their four matches so far and hence the match against Windies is crucial for them.

Liton Das can be a replacement for Mushfiqur and he did well in the warm-up match against India by scoring 73 runs.
