Who won WI vs IND 2nd Test? Check Man of the Match award winner

The West Indies vs India second and final Test match ends in an unfortunate draw as the fifth day was completely washed out without a single ball being bowled. This also means that the visiting Indian team have sealed the two-match Test series in their favour by a 1-0 margin after they won the opening Test by an innings and 141 runs. Both the teams will get four WTC points each for the drawn second Test, however, the Rohit Sharma-led side will be feeling that they had the opportunity to secure complete 24 WTC points from this series, if the rain gods did not had the final say during the last day of the Port of Spain Test match.

There were many brilliant performances throughout the Test match especially by the Indian players. However, it was fast bowler Mohammed Siraj who stood on the top with a sensational five-wicket haul on a pitch that had no help for the seamers. Thus, Siraj was named the Man of the Match award winner in the WI vs IND 2nd Test match.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, the Indian opening pair of skipper Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal once again got going in an impressive fashion having added 139 runs for the first wicket. Jaiswal scored 57 runs while Rohit smashed an excellent innings of 80 runs that included 9 fours and 2 sixes. The duo of Shubman Gill and Ajinkya Rahane once again failed to contribute much with the bat, however, Virat Kohli went on to notch up his first overseas Test century since 2018 as he played a remarkable innings of 121 runs. Both Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin also scored fifties each as India posted a massive total of 438 runs on the board.

In reply, the West Indies openers, Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul showed fine resilience having stitched an opening partnership of 71 runs. Brathwaite led his side from the front with an exceptional knock of 75 runs off 235 balls. A few of the West Indies middle-order batters did get some starts but failed to convert into a big innings. However, after a poor batting performance in the first Test, the hosts did manage to bat out the entire Day 3 of this second Test. But it was Indian speedster Mohammed Siraj who picked up a fabulous five-wicket haul on Day 4 to wrap up the West Indian innings at 255 runs.

With a healthy lead of 183 runs and hints of rain scares, India came out with an aggressive batting approach having reached the three-figure-mark in just 12.2 overs. Rohit notched up an exciting innings of 57 runs off only 44 balls while Jaiswal smashed 38 runs off 30 deliveries. However, Ishan Kishan was the highlight on Day 4 as he smacked 52 runs off just 34 balls that included 4 fours and 2 sixes and India declared at 181 for 2 setting a fourth innings target of 365 runs.

The West Indies batsmen once again decided to show some fight while playing some old-fashioned Test cricket. But it was Ashwin who brought his experience into play and removed both Brathwaite and Kirk McKenzie in successive overs to leave the hosts 76 for 2 at stumps on Day 4. However, the rain gods had the final say on Day 5 as there was no play possible due to heavy rains at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Eventually, the umpires had to call off the day and the Test match ended in a draw.
