The important news development coming in is that India are not playing their seam bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur in the second and final Test match against West Indies being played at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad. India are coming into this Test match with a winning momentum after having won the first Test against West Indies by an innings and 141 runs. The visitors have taken a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series and will be aiming to complete a whitewash by winning the second game as well.
After having lost the toss and being asked to bat first, Indian captain Rohit Sharma revealed that Shardul Thakur misses out from the India playing 11 for this WI vs IND 2nd Test. Rohit further stated that the seam bowling all-rounder pulled out a niggle and was not available for selection in this final Test match. In India’s convincing victory during the first Test, Shardul picked up a single wicket in the first innings having bowled as many as 7 overs and was not required to bowl at all in the second innings. His services were neither required with the bat. In his absence, right-arm pacer Mukesh Kumar will be making his Test debut for India after having performed really well during the last domestic season.
“We were looking to bat first. Looks nice and sunny as well. It’s going to get slower and slower. Shardul has pulled up a niggle. He’s not fit. Mukesh Kumar is going to make his debut. He has worked hard in the domestic cricket. There’s lot of memories, the rivalry between the two teams has always been exciting to watch. It’s always been a tough tour, you have to work hard. Even in the last game, we had to work hard, especially the batters. Hopefully we get the result we are expected of,” said India captain Rohit Sharma during the toss.
