Team India skipper Virat Kohli might set another record when India play their first T20I against Ireland on Wednesday.

The 29-year old will become the fastest cricketer to score 2000 runs in T20Is.

Virat currently sits at the fourth spot on the all-time list of highest run-scorers in T20I cricket behind Newland’s Martin Guptill (2271 runs), Brendon McCullum (2140) and Shoaib Malik (1989).

He has scored 1983 runs at an average of 50.84 in 54 innings. If Kohli manages to score 17 runs or more, he will become the fastest to achieve the feat.

Former New Zeland skipper McCullum is the fastest to reach the 2000-run mark. He took 66 innings to cross the mark.

Guptill followed suit and achieved the milestone in 68 innings and Kohli could now be the third player to complete the feat in just 57 innings.
