Massive blow to Team India, opener ruled out of World Cup 2019

India opener Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 with a thumb injury. Dhawan suffered a hairline fracture against Australia at The Oval on June 9.

“Dhawan has been ruled out. He is not in a position to take part in the World Cup,” a source said.

Team India management was monitoring the progress as they hoped the batsman will recover in 4 weeks but it was not the case.

The replacement

Rishabh Pant has arrived in England earlier last week as a standby. The hard-hitting batsman has been training with the team and will replace Shikhar Dhawan in Team India squad.
