Tables turned around at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi where the ‘El Clasico’ clash between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) saw huge leakage of runs from MI, the team with supposedly the best bowling attack. Even though toss favoured Rohit Sharma led MI, the bowling decision seemingly backfired as the innings saw an outpouring of runs during CSK’s batting.

Off to a good start, MI looked dominant when MI’s ace pacer Trent Boult scalped CSK’s opener Ruturaj Gaikwad’s wicket in the first over. However, the bowling unit was taken in for a ride as CSK batsmen- Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali jammed a 100+ run partnership between the two until the speedster Jasprit Bumrah rattled Moeen Ali’s wicket.

Little did MI dominate when Kieron Pollard scalped two successive wickets in the 12th over, soon after which Ambati Rayudu and Ravindra Jadeja stole the limelight with the willow.

Bumrah’s bowling figure- 56/1

It is certainly a spell to forget for the key speedster Jasprit Bumrah who conceded massive 56 runs in the four overs he bowled. Though a little uneconomical even from the start, things took a massive turn-around in the 17th over where Bumrah conceded 21 runs from a single over. Besides, he even bowled a no-ball and two wides; things considered blunder in a T20 cricket format.

Unwanted records etched by Bumrah

After the loss of openers and the middle order debacle, Ambati Rayudu came as a torchbearer for CSK, smashing 72 off just 27 balls. Unlike Ravindra Jadeja who consolidated and rotated the strike, Rayudu was in blazing hot form. He clinched his fifty in just twenty balls and helped CSK put a formidable total of 218 runs on the board.
