After being staggered in the first innings it was important for the visitors to get a good start, batting great Sunil Gavaskar along with Chetan Chauhan made sure India does not falter once again and the duo registered 213 runs for the opening wicket.

The former Indian skipper then carried his bat and played one of the best knocks by an Indian batsman on English soil. The ‘Little Master’ batted for eight hours and scored a monumental 221 which consisted of 21 fours. Gavaskar’s knock took India close to the target (429-8) but at the end they had to settle for a draw.
