AUS vs IND Dream11 Prediction: After a cracking start to the international summer, Australia will look to back up their performance from the first game as India prepare to up their intensity. Hosts were superior with their batting returns on Friday as most of Indian bowlers had a day to forget. India will have some thinking to do before this one as they had no backup plan once their regular bowlers started chasing the leather. We will build up to the second ODI in our AUS vs IND Dream11 predictions.

Batting first on a typical SCG road, David Warner and Aaron Finch gave Australia a near perfect start in the first ODI. Both added 156 runs for the first wicket as Indian bowlers struggled to find the Australian lengths. Once David Warner got dismissed on 69, Aaron Finch carried on the assault with Steve Smith. Both slammed tons with Steve Smith being an aggressor with 66-ball-105 to propel Australia towards a massive total. Glenn Maxwell shrugged off his IPL disappointments with some fireworks at the end as Australia piled on 374 runs on the board. Mohammed Shami picked up 3 scalps for the tourists.

In reply, Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan began the proceedings in a T20 way. But that lasted only for a short while as Mayank Agarwal fell to Josh Hazlewood. Virat Kohli played some breathtaking shots but couldn’t prevent a cluster of wickets in the middle overs. India were reeling at 101 for 4 when Hardik Pandya joined Shikhar Dhawan. Both put on only resistance for India with a partnership of 128 runs. Opener made 74 while Hardik Pandya ruffled some feathers in the Australian camp with an innings of 90. In the end, India fell short by 66 runs as Australia went 1-0 up in the series.

In head-to-head comparisons, Australia are leading with 79-52 over India in 141 ODIs played between these two sides. 10 matches have been washed out due to bad weather. In Australia, India have been only successful on 13 occasions as Australia came out victorious in 36 matches. Notably, India went on to win the last bilateral series in January 2020 from a similar position by trailing 1-0 in a three-match series.

Pitch and Conditions

India failed to adjust to ground dimensions in the first game as often happens with the touring teams in Australia initially. A fresh pitch will be in use but that won’t change the dimensions significantly. The surface looked a touch slower in the second half on Friday. Hence, batting first will remain the preference today as well.

Let’s take a look at the squad news and AUS Vs IND Dream11 predictions for today’s encounter.

  • Australia will look to assess the injury of Marcus Stoinis which he picked up in the first game. But most likely, he will be out of this match.
  • Aaron Finch and David Warner will be looking to continue their good work at top of the order while Steve Smith provided enough evidence in the first match about his ability to play flexible roles.
  • Marnus Labuschagne will be Australia’s no 4 while Alex Carey and Glenn Maxwell are likely to be used as finishers again. Australia may hand a debut to domestic prodigy Cameron Green and if they decide to go with experience, then Moises Henriques is the option.
  • Bowling lineup will remain same for the hosts as Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood doing fast-bowling duties while Adam Zampa will be their lone specialist spinner in our AUS vs IND Dream11 predictions.

  • India are not likely to change anything after just one match but they will be looking to improve some fundamentals while playing in Australia.
  • Mayank Agarwal looked in touch while he stayed there along with Shikhar Dhawan while Virat Kohli will be eyeing for a big one on Sunday.
  • Shreyas Iyer will have to improve his game against short bowling otherwise this may end up being a long tour for him. KL Rahul will bat at no 5 position while Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja will fill the all-rounders’ spots.
  • Jasprit Bumrah looked a bit off-colour in the first one but knowing him, he should be able to handle that pretty well. Navdeep Saini and Mohammed Shami will remain other pacers as Yuzvendra Chahal will be looking to correct the calculations after a poor outing.

Captain Picks

For Small Leagues

  • Steve Smith looked in ominous touch in the first ODI during his quickest hundred. He slammed 105 runs from just 66 balls and emerges as a premier captaincy option once again on Sunday. He loves batting against India and carries an impeccable record. He has 1012 runs against India from just 16 innings at an average of 63.2.
  • David Warner has started the series on a good note with his innings of 69 runs. He was looking good for a ton before getting out to Mohammed Shami. But with two spinners turning the ball into him, he could fancy his chances again if he negotiates the new ball.
  • Shikhar Dhawan continued on his IPL form with a brilliant innings in the chase on Friday. His record against Australia is a good one too with 1219 runs at an average of 46.9 from 27 innings. At SCG, he maintains an average of 41 from the five innings he has played so far.

For Grand Leagues

  • Adam Zampa has made a name for himself in limited overs cricket in last couple of years. Especially, his ODI numbers have been incredible to say the least. He has picked up 14 scalps from last 4 ODIs. With him having an upper hand over few Indian match-ups, he looks a strong differential in the grand leagues.
  • Virat Kohli has had a quiet IPL by his standards and he will be looking forward to live up to the pre-series billings in the Australian media. If India are to make a comeback in the series, Virat Kohli will have to take bulk of the responsibility. He will have no better opportunity than Sunday to correct his SCG numbers.
  • Hardik Pandya is playing as a specialist batsman currently in the Indian setup. But he still merits his selection in any of your fantasy leagues as we saw in the last match. He has 360 runs against Australia at an average of 60 and at a SR of 117.3 from 6 innings. Game time should not be a major concern in ODIs and he can be trusted as a captaincy option in the grand leagues.

Who will win AUS vs IND Today Match Prediction?

As per our Today Match Prediction, hosts Australia are favourites to take the series on Sunday with another win. As we saw, Indian bowling looked toothless in the first outing and will have to up their game if India are to pull-off something here. Also, lack of sixth bowling option can be a crucial factor in India’s plans.
