An eye on World Cup 2019 preparations

The New Zealand tour is crucial for Bangladesh Tigers as it will act as a mirror to their World Cup preparations. As per Steve Rhodes -Bangladesh coach, the New Zealand series will be a good opportunity for assessing the squad for the World Cup 2019. When last time Bangladesh visited New Zealand in 2016-17, the hosts clean swept the visitors in all formats. Bangladesh is yet to secure a win across formats against the Black Caps in New Zealand.

With the World Cup 2019 just three months away, the hosts continue their tight packed schedule. After whitewashing Sri Lanka, Kiwis took up India’s challenge in which they encountered a disappointing home series loss in ODIs but redeemed themselves with the 2-1 win in the T20I series and are now all set to host Bangladesh.

Injury concerns on both the sides

Both the sides are dealing with a couple of injuries issues. While experienced campaigner Shakib Al Hasan gets ruled out of the series, Bangladesh faced a major blow when Taskin Ahmed injured his ankle in the BPL 2019. On the opposite, Martin Guptill will be monitored closely despite being named in the ODI squad. Having an eye on the excessive workload, the management has decided to give some rest to skipper Kane Williamson. He has been named for the first two games only and Colin Munro will come in his place for the third and final ODI.

BAN vs NZ Dream11 Team:

Fantasy picks from New Zealand

Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson are one of the most consistent performers with the bat in the home side. After an impressive series against Sri Lanka which also includes a century, Taylor had an average outing against India and will be crucial against Bangladesh.

Trent Boult emerged as the most effective weapon against India especially Shikhar Dhawan. He took a five-fer against India in the fourth ODI and will be New Zealand’s spearhead in the bowling attack.

Colin de Grandomme was excellent in the T20I series against India and will be hoping to continue the momentum. Jimmy Needham showed his potential against Sri Lanka and can change the course of the game anytime with both bat and ball.

Fantasy picks from Bangladesh

The visitors are coming after a successful BPL edition. Sabbir Rahman, Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal were amongst the leading run-getters in the tournament. Tamim scored a blistering century in the final to help his side lift the trophy.

Mashrafe Mortaza and Rubel Hossain had a wonderful outing with the ball. Both took 20+ wickets in the tournament.
