Basin Reserve, Wellington, March 08-March 12, at 03:30 AM IST
After an emphatic show at the Seddon Park in Hamilton, New Zealand will march into the second Test with loads of confidence by their side and an already distorted Bangladesh will look for some miracle after they were completely baffled in the first Test.

After dismissing Bangladesh for a score of 234 runs in the first innings courtest Neil Wagner’s 5-fer and Tim Southee’s triple strikes, New Zealand batted with precision and went on to make their highest ever total in Test cricket i.e. 715 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.

Openers Jeet Raval and Tom Latham scored brilliant tons but the man of the moment was the skipper himself Kane Williamson who carried his bat throughout the innings and mastered his second double century i.e. 200 runs from 257 deliveries. His knock helped his side to reach a mammoth score in the first innings plus on personal grounds, he moved to the second rank in ICC Test batsmen rankings with 900+ rating points.
A first innings lead of 481 runs was always going to take a lot from the Bangladesh batting unit but the visitors were in no mood to give up easily. Skipper Mahmudullah Riyad and Soumya Sarkar were not giving up the fight as the duo stitched a brilliant 235 runs stand for the fifth wicket. In the process, Soumya Sarkar got 149 to his name, while the skipper scored a tempting 146.
