Bangalore and Chennai are ready for the battle in the 49th match of the Indian T20 League 2022. The two teams are arguably the most entertaining sides in the tournament. The last time when these two met, there was a lot of hard-hitting involved.
The fans are excited to witness the ‘new’ Chennai. MS Dhoni is reinstated as the captain for the men in yellow after Ravindra Jadeja handed the captaincy back to him.
The Bangalore side has had on-and-off matches so far in the season. Earlier in the tournament, there were matches where Bangalore looked unstoppable with the batting performances of Faf du Plessis, Suyash Prabhudessai and Dinesh Karthik. However, in the last few matches, the team has done little with the bat and the bowl. Virat Kohli’s terrible form has been a matter of concern for the fans and the team itself. However, the rest of the batting lineup is not up to the mark as well. However, in the last match, Kohli finally hit his first half-century of the season which was a sign of relief as far as fans are concerned.
The bowling unit of Bangalore has become a better unit since the arrival of Josh Hazlewood. Mohammed Siraj’s on and off performances in the tournament has left Bangalore clueless in the death overs. However, the team is still in the top four and is a strong contender for the Indian T20 League title.
Chennai played its first match with MS Dhoni as their captain in the Indian T20 League 2022. Evidently, this change in captaincy reaped benefits for the four-time title winner. Chennai registered their second match of this tournament when they defeated the unstoppable Hyderabad.
Ruturaj Gaikwad found his rhythm and hit 99 runs off just 57 runs. Meanwhile, his opening partner Devon Conway scored 85 runs off just 55 runs. Eventually, the men in yellow put on a massive score of 202 runs for their opponents, Hyderabad. Fans credit these amazing performances to Dhoni who took the mantle of captaincy and did what he did the best.
In the last match, the previously wobbling bowling unit of Chennai did wonders as well. Youngster Mukesh Choudhary took 4 wickets and ushered his team to the victory. Mitchell Santner and Dwaine Pretorius also contributed their bit and took 1 wicket each. Eventually, the fans are once again rooting for Chennai.
The wickets at MCA Stadium are known to be batting friendly initially, but also provide assistance to quality spin bowling. And going by the record, the chasing team has an advantage on the wickets at MCA Stadium in Pune.
