CSK vs RR Dream11 Team: Match 37 of the IPL 2020 will witness two teams who are struggling at the bottom half of the table. Both Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals have won 3 matches and lost 6 matches so far. One more loss can close the doors for them from reaching the semifinals. Chennai Super Kings have looked unimpressive so far and have clearly lacked intent. That’s not the same CSK that we are used to see in all previous seasons of IPL. Apart from a few players at the top, their key performers like MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav have failed to fire. The loss of Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina is hurting the team. The spinners were always CSK’s strength but this season has been disappointing for them. Their poor form has affected the team’s performance and the team is now on the brink of getting knocked out of the tournament.

Rajasthan Royals on the other hand, too look quite similar to CSK. They have had few brilliant performances but have failed to click as a unit. Despite the presence of big names like Jos Buttler, Steve Smith, Jofra Archer, RR has won just 3 games so far. Archer has been excellent but Buttler is yet to play a match winning innings. Their losses in the last two games would be more hurting as they lost the matches from a winning position. That brings them to a situation where they need to win almost every match of the tournament from this point.

CSK vs RR Dream11 Prediction, Team News, Playing 11

CSK have clearly missed their experienced players. The loss of Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh at the start hasn’t helped their cause. On top of that, Dwayne Bravo pulling out before the crucial last over against Delhi has caused another headache for them. Not only they were forced to go for Jadeja against two left handers which lost them the game, but it also means that their premier death bowler is out for a week or two now. They can bring in Hazlewood or an extra spin option in the form of Imran Tahir in Bravo’s place. In the batting Faf du Plessis has impressed with bat and is no.3 on the orange cap list. Watson has started scoring the crucial runs and Sam Curran has been impressive with the ball and as a pinch hitter with the bat. The form of MS Dhoni has been a cause of concern as the veteran finisher has failed to finish a no. of games this season. Though Jadeja’s late cameos with the bat has given the team some confidence.

Rajasthan started off the season brilliantly but then lost their way in between. At the start it looked like Sanju Samson will have his breakthrough season this year but he has looked to play one shot too many that has often led to his downfall. Though the form of Robin Uthappa at the top and Steve Smith in the middle order must have given them some confidence in the batting, but the lack of big runs from Jos Buttler has hurt them. Rahul Tewatia has had a brilliant season so far. Whenever he has got opportunities with the bat, ball or in the field, he has been eye catching. The bowling led by Jofra Archer must be slightly low on confidence when they let an easy game slip way in the last match. There have been no injury concerns in the team so far but Unadkat can make way for Varun Aaron after an expensive last game. They would look to make amends in this game and make sure they stay alive in the playoffs race.

Both the teams lost their previous matches from a winning position so they need a win desperately to keep their chances high of reaching the playoffs, so expect a tight contest.

Pitch report

The last match at Abu Dhabi produced a nail-biter when KKR beat SRH in the super over. The pitch had everything for everyone whether it’s batsmen, fast bowlers or the spinners. The pitch requires some application from the batsmen and the batsmen who can apply themselves can go on to play a big innings. Watch out for Faf du Plessis who has averaged over 50 this season. This hasn’t been Jos Buttler’s season so far but against an attack low on confidence especially at the death, this could be Buttler’s game. The pitch is likely to remain the same for both innings but the teams winning the toss may choose to bat first given a high pressure game. A target above 175 may prove to be a difficult one for the team chasing. The weather is clear for a game of cricket and there are no chances of rain. So choose your RR vs CSK Dream11 team accordingly.

CSK vs RR Dream11 Expert Picks

Faf du Plessis- Du Plessis is averaging 52 this IPL at a strike rate of 142. He has been by far the most consistent performer for CSK so far. Batting at the top order gives him enough balls to get his eye in. He makes full use of the powerplay restrictions and can rotate the strike in the middle overs too. The overall package he is guarantees him a spot in the CSK vs RR Dream11 team prediction.

Jos Buttler- Buttler has had a scratchy IPL so far. He carries a strike rate of 143 but an average of 24 clearly don’t indicate his potential. His fast hands allows him to hit big sixes both to the pacers and spinners. He played at No.5 in the last match but is expected to blast in the slog overs as CSK is missing their premier death bowler in the form of Bravo.

Ambati Rayudu- Rayudu has had a very good IPL so far. He didn’t play in few matches because of the injury but has made an impact in the matches he has played and averages 47 with the bat. In the last game too he made a quickfire 25-ball 45 and carried CSK to a decent total. He can be expected to play a crucial role in the middle overs.

Jofra Archer- Archer has been quick and impressive so far. He has 12 wickets in 9 matches at an impressive average of 20. The fact that he bowls at the death and still has an economy of less than 7 shows how impressive he has been so far. Against the likes of Dhoni and Jadeja at the death, his pinpoint Yorkers can prove to be game changing.

Differential Picks

Shane Watson- Watson started off the tournament with a string of low scores but has come back strongly since then. He has carried his average to 34 despite those low scores. Against his former side, he can come to his known if he can play out the opening spell of Jofra Archer. His big shoulders can clear the boundaries quite easily.

Ben Stokes- This can be the game where Ben Stokes can play a big innings. Given that CSK don’t have any offspinner in their lineup and the presence of legspinner and left arm spinner can just work in Stokes favor. He is expected to bat in the top and will get enough time to build an innings.
