DEL vs RAJ MPL Team: If we go by the current standings in the points table, then Delhi Capitals should be the firm favourites to win this match but the injury to R Pant and the forced dropping of Hetmyer due to the absence of a local wicket-keeper has made it into an even contest. In their last match against each other at Sharjah, DC won by a heavy margin of 46 runs after their in-form bowling attack restricted RR to 138 all-out who weren’t anywhere close to the target during the chase.
Delhi Capitals as we’ve said earlier has lost the services of R Pant and S Hetmyer, who provided the much-needed firepower to this squad. I Sharma has also been ruled out of the tournament due to a rib fracture which leaves them with no experienced Indian pacer apart from the out of touch Mohit Sharma. Their bowling unit is strong though but the absence of a quality 5th bowling option could well trouble them against RR who have great players of raw pace in the form of Buttler, Stokes and Smith.
Rajasthan Royals returned back to winning ways after the young Indian duo of Tewatia and R Parag sealed a tricky chase of 158 against SRH after their top-order collapsed. They’re a flawed side too with the contribution of Tewatia in the lower-order masking some of their troubles and their bowling lacks tooth apart from Archer. The return of B Stokes didn’t prove much in the last game but his pairing with Buttler at the top has the potential to be one of the greatest moves of this tournament. RR will certainly fancy themselves to win against this weakened DC unit.
Fixture: Delhi Capitals vs Rajasthan Royals, Match 30, IPL 2020
Date & Time: Wednesday, 14th October 2020 at 7:30 pm (IST)
Venue: Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai
Venue Stats: The average first innings score at Abu Dhabi in the last 3 years has been 145 with 183 being the highest score ever chased. Pacers have been more successful than the spinners at this venue. The teams batting first have won the majority of the matches at this venue.
Pitch Report: The pitches at Dubai have started to slow down despite the usage of 3 strips and the lack of dew. The same pitch used for the last game will be used for this fixture and expect it to play slow with some assistance for spinners and hit the deck pacers.
Team news: R Pant is expected to sit out at least for a week and with the absence of a local wicket-keeper, DC are forced to drop Hetmyer to accommodate A Carey. They’re more likely to field the same eleven from their last match against MI with the possibility of dropping Harshal Patel for a bowler like Avesh Khan.
Rajasthan Royals promoted B Stokes to the top which even though failed, is worthy of continuing with. Their bowling attack is a worry too, but they’ve no other quality replacements and are likely to stick with Unadkat.
Underperformers/risky picks: R Uthappa has been largely out-of-form especially with his new middle-order role and it is futile to pick him against DC’s bowling line-up.
Harshal Patel is quite a handy cricketer but from a fantasy point of view, he doesn’t offer much with him batting too low and his bowling not that effective. The predicted XIs for the DC vs RR MPL fantasy cricket tips are as follows:
DEL Playing XI (predicted):
S Iyer (C)
A Carey (WK)
RAJ Playing XI (predicted):
J Buttler (WK)
S Smith (C)
J Buttler – He hasn’t been in great form this season but his ability to feel at ease against raw pace makes him a threat for DC. If he finds his groove, then we’re in for a big score from him in DC vs RR today match prediction.
P Shaw – He’s been in some form this season providing quick starts for DC at the PowerPlay. He looked set in the last match against RR before getting out to a short one from Archer. If he stays in today a big score is inevitable.
J Archer – He’s been bowling with fire this season clocking close to 150ks on the deserts at UAE. Delhi Capitals batting unit have their issues against the short ball with the likes of Dhawan, Shaw and Iyer vulnerable against it and Archer will exploit it as he did in their last fixture.
K Rabada – The Purple Cap holder has never gone wicketless in his last 14 games and with the form he’s in, he’ll be up to the task of adding some more to his kitty.
A Rahane – The Indian batting veteran finally got his chance to play in the last game and failed with a 16 ball 15. However, he’ll be coming up against his old franchise in RR and would want to prove his worth with some runs.
A Patel – He loves bowling at Dubai which is evident from his figures of 1/14, 1/18 and 2/18 from the 3 games played there. Expect him to repeat those performances.
