Wankhede, February 22 at 09:00 AM
England Women’s tour of India kickstarts with the first ODI scheduled to be played tomorrow at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The visitors will play 3 ODIs, part of the ICC Women’s Championship, and 3 T20Is from February to March 09. The ODIs will be played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai while the T20Is are scheduled to take place at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati.
The hosts faced a major blow just ahead of the ODI series as the vice-skipper Harmanpreet Kaur gets ruled out of the ODI series following an ankle injury. Kaur sustained the injury a few days ago and was unable to make it to the training sessions ahead of the ODI series. The management has named an uncapped 20-year-old all-rounder Harleen Deol as the replacement in the ODI series while Harmanpreet Kaur will head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for her treatment.
Two prolific seniors – Sarah Taylor and Katherine Brunt, who missed the final of last year’s Women’s World T20 due to injury concern and personal reasons, are back in the ODI squad against India. While Sarah Taylor will only feature in ODI series, Katherine brunt has been included in the T20I series as well which begins from March 04.
The ODI series will be followed with three matches T20I series in Guwahati scheduled to be played on March 4, 7 and 9.
