Initially, the matches were scheduled to start at 10:00 AM and after both the team management put in a formal request, the timings were rescheduled to 11:00 AM IST to make it more convenient for players, crowd and television audience.

Consolation win for the visitors in the last ODI

With an eye on 3-0 series whitewash, the hosts were deprived of the clean sweep as England Women secured a 2 wicket consolation win in the third ODI on Thursday in Mumbai. Having opted to bat first after winning the toss, the hosts were restricted to 205-8 in 50 overs with Smriti Mandhana (66 of 74) and Punam Raut (56 of 97) as the top scorer for the side. Katherine Brunt was the pick of bowlers for England Women, finishing at 5-28. In reply, England Women’s run-chase was powered by skipper Heather Knight (47 of 63) and Danielle Wyatt (56 of 82) and the side managed to chase down the target with 2 wickets remaining and 7 balls to spare.

Earlier, India Women secured 66 runs win in the first ODI and 7 wickets win in the second ODI to seal the series with 2-1.

Mandhana to skipper the home-side; visitors add Alex Hartley  

Team India opener Smriti Mandhana will be making her international captaincy debut tomorrow in the first T20I at Guwahati. The opportunity to lead the side comes in the absence of injured regular skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and all the eyes will be on Mandhana’s tactical nuance. She has been in phenomenal form for the last few months and let’s see if she pulls it out in this role as well.

On the other side, England Women have added left-arm spinner Alex Hartley to the three matches T20I series. She comes as an injury replacement for the fellow left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone who sustained an injury in the ODIs. Alex Hartley has played three T20s for England, the last of which was almost a year ago against India in Mumbai.
