In a surprising result for all, New Zealand completely outplayed England in the first ODI as the Kiwis registered a thumping 8-wicket victory. Batting first, England posted a decent total of 291/6 courtesy of half-centuries from Dawid Malan, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, and Liam Livingstone. However, their bowlers were ineffective as Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell smashed brilliant centuries for New Zealand to complete the chase in the 46th over.
England have a mighty batting line-up but they will look to sharpen their bowling weapons with the ODI World Cup 2023 looming large. On the other hand, New Zealand also have a scope for improvement in their bowling. While the hosts will be eager to bounce back with a victory to level the series, New Zealand would not want to take their foot off the gas to win back-to-back matches.

The Rose Bowl always offers a sporting surface and we could witness a good fight between the bat and the ball. However, the pacers get more zip off the surface here than the spinners. The batting might get easier under the lights and hence, the team winning the toss might opt to field first.
Last result at the venue
England (328/10) lost to Ireland (329/3) by 7 wickets.

England have a ton of firepower in their batting, but they are not looking penetrative in their bowling attack. They might have to bring in reinforcements in their bowling attack to threaten the Kiwis. On the other hand, New Zealand did a splendid job in the first game and they will like to carry forward the momentum. However, it is tough to bet against England in white-ball format these days. As per our prediction, England are expected to win this game.
Wicket-keepers: J Buttler (VC), D Conway (C)

For Grand League, Mega Contest: Liam Livingstone and Daryl Mitchell could be the dark horses in the GLs.
