GUY vs SLZ Dream11 Prediction: After the tussle in the group stages, teams have now embarked to the journey of their ultimate glory. And that is to win this year’s Caribbean Premier League. Two teams searching for their first CPL title will take on each other in second semi-final today. Guyana Amazon Warriors and St Lucia Zouks will be looking to make their preparations count at The Brain Lara Stadium in an evening game. We will preview the match in our Dream11 fantasy cricket.
Guyana Amazon Warriors ended the league stage at 2nd position with 6 wins out of 10 matches. After an indifferent start to the season, they managed to hold their own in some of the crucial games. In their last group match, they hammered the defending champions Barbados Tridents to send them on their way. Romario Shepherd and Imran Tahir were the major destroyers as the Tridents were restricted to a total of 89 runs from their 20 overs. Both took 3 scalps each on that night. In the chase, Shimron Hetmyer anchored the innings perfectly while Chandrapaul Hemraj found some form before the knock-out games. Guyana Amazon Warriors sailed home with 6 wickets to spare.
St Lucia Zouks have turned out to be a ‘surprise package’ in this year’s CPL. They also won the same number of matches as their rivals today but were placed at 3rd position only because of their net run-rate. In the last group match, St Lucia Zouks overcame Jamaica Tallawahs comfortably to end the league phase on a high. Batting first, Rahkeem Cornwall, Roston Chase and Najibullah Zadran were their main contributors in the total of 145 runs. In reply, St Lucia Zouks spinners were a tough proposition to handle for the Tallawahs on a tiring surface. Javelle Glen and Zahir Khan picked up a couple of wickets each to hand a victory by 11 runs to the Zouks.
In head-to-head comparisons, Guyana Amazon Warriors have been the dominant team historically. They have 10 wins compared to 5 of St Lucia Zouks in 15 matches played between them. In the last 5 matches, Guyana Amazon Warriors are leading by 3-2 while the honors have been shared by both the teams in the meetings this year with both winning a game each in the group stages.
Isolated showers in the afternoon may play spoilsport for today’s semifinal but it is highly unlikely that there will be persistent enough rain to cause any chances of a wash-out. This pitch at Tarouba is looking good for batting in comparisons to the earlier ones but still there will be plenty for the slower bowlers to work with.
