Giants of international cricket take each other on for the third game of the ODI series as India hosts Australia on Friday.
India are the second-ranked side in the ICC ODI rankings and are playing like a side who are favourites to win the upcoming World Cup. They have been in spectacular form for a while, and much of it has been due to the ruthlessness that captain Virat Kohli has imposed on his players. The mentality of this team is clear; they will not be taking a single game for granted, and have to win giving a 100% effort.
This makes them a dangerous side for anyone to get past, and this ODI series has already seen them fight adversity. The management will be keeping a keen eye on some of the younger talent, and have to make a decision on who they should include in the squad and who needs to be left out.
Meanwhile, Australia are the defending champions but have been a shadow of their former selves. Even though their two stars in Steve Smith and David Warner will be returning to play for the nation after surviving their suspension, the team is still some ways away from being the best in the world.
However, they have been gifted with the ability to perform when it really matters or when they have got their backs against the wall, and this third ODI is a do or die situation. It will test the characters of the players and help the coaches understand who can truly have a positive impact in terms of the result.
