WI vs ENG Halaplay Prediction | Windies vs England 1st ODI Match Preview
After defeating England in the test series, Windies would be keen to continue winning in the One Day International Series. The hosts were not fancied against the English, who are deemed far superior, but the test series win has enthused confidence in them. England, on the other hand, would seek to get back on track in ODI series.
Venue – Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados
Date & Time – 20th Feb | 08:30 PM IST
No one expected England to be as poor as they were in the first two test matches against Windies. The visitors were effectively smothered by the brilliant balling attack of the hosts and they had no answers. However, the third test match was a different story altogether. Not only did England restore some of their pride, but they also showed glimpses of who they really are.
The English bowlers finally arrived onto the scene in the third test match as they managed to get Windies all out under 200 in first innings. The batsmen reacted to the fine performance of their bowlers as they also delivered to help England win. The usual suspects, Joe Root and Jason Roy also hit centuries in the warm-up match before the ODI series.
Having won the test series, Windies are determined to win the One Day International series as well. The inclusion of highly experienced Chris Gayle is a clear sign of how the hosts want to use a player of his calibre for their good. A global superstar, Gayle, has always been one of the most lethal strikers of the ball with the bat.
The hosts will be hoping to use “Gayle-Storm” to strike fear into English bowlers. When on song, there is no better cricketer in the world in terms of ball-hitting than Gayle.
