India, after disappointing tours of South Africa and England, are Down Under with a promise to take the spoils home. There has been a lot of talk for months now, with most former Indian cricketers predicting a comfortable series win for the visitors. Can they deliver it this time?
Australia, on the other hand, have been marred with many concerns of their own. Since the ball-tampering fiasco that rocked Cricket Australia nine months ago, they have been terrible. In this span, they have failed in each of nine consecutive series, across all formats. Can they draw inspiration from the fact that they have never lost a home series to India?
India have announced a 12-man squad ahead of the clash, while Australia have announced XI players who will feature here.
India Playing 11: Rishabh Pant, Murali Vijay, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari/Rohit Sharma R Ashwin, M Shami, J Bumrah, Ishant Sharma
Australia Playing 11: Tim Paine (c), Aaron Finch, Peter Handscomb, Usman Khwaja, M Harris, Shaun Marsh, Nathon Lyon, Travis Head, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc.
Team 1 & 2: Fragile Aussie batting delivers
– Nobody expects them to bat India out, let’s take a chance.
– Pack your fantasy teams with Aussie batsmen
Team 3, 4 & 5: Unlikely Heros
– Going by the book, the likes of Kohli, Khawaja, Bumrah and Starc will be the top performers of the first Test.
– Don’t choose the favourites as captain/vice-captain and punt on others.
Team 6: Ashwin makes it difficult for a side packed with left-handers
The Aussie side has six left-handers in the lineup. Ashwin can pounce on the opportunity, select the offie as your captain.
