Pitch and Weather Conditions
The weather at Vizag looks good enough for play to take place. However, there is a chance of rain on Day 2 of the Test, but it is being considered as a passing shower with little effect.
The one Test that has taken place in Vishakapatnam was between India and England in 2016. In that Test, the spinners dominated the game as they picked 25 wickets out of 40. That being said, the spinners are once again expected to put in a shift.
Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara will be expected to replicate their performances as they did against England at the same venue. Both sets of batsmen scored a century the last time they played at Vizag,
With this being Hanuma Vihari's home ground, one can expect that Vihari accumulates the runs, especially while keeping his recent form in mind. The middle-order batsman is on the back of a maiden Test hundred and has an average of 60 in first-class cricket at this venue.
Ravichandran Ashwin will finally get game time and will have a thing or two to prove with his right arm spin. Ashwin and Ravi Jadeja have enjoyed bowling in tandem, especially against South Africa with the duo taking 54 wickets off 70 the last time India hosted the Proteas.
For South Africa, either of the spinners in the form of Keshav Maharaj and Dane Piedt can prove to be vital at this wicket.
