Dubai, February 16 Saturday at 05:00 PM IST

After registering 5 wickets win in the tournament opener against Lahore Qalandars, the defending champions Islamabad United will take on Multan Sultans in their assignment. Both the sides will lock horns at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai tomorrow evening. The clash is set to begin at 05:00 PM IST.

Pakistan Super League 2019

This is the fourth edition of Pakistan’s T20 cricket league established by Pakistan Cricket Board in 2015. A total of six franchises will take place for the title win from February 14-March 17. The month-long cricket extravaganza will witness 34 T20s with the final being scheduled to take place in Karachi on March 17, Sunday. Islamabad United clinched 3 wickets win over Peshawar Zalmi in last year’s final to seize the title for the second time after winning it for the first time in 2016. They will be defending the title this year.

United’s 5 wickets in the tournament opener

The PSL 4 opener between reigning champions Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandar was a worthy encounter as chasing a target of 172, Asif Ali (36* off 19) and Faheem Ashraf (23* off 11) accounted for an unbeaten 59-runs stand for the sixth wicket to help their side cross the line.

Having opted to bowl, Islamabad United failed to dig Qalandars’ top order and the side posted a huge total of 171-8, courtesy Fakhar Zaman’s 65 of 43. Sohail Akhtar (37 of 30)  and AB de Villiers (24 of 17) were the other two key contributors with the bat. Coming to chase, United got a stable start from Luke Ronchi (27 of 17) and Rizwan Hussain (15 of 15) but they lost three wickets in the final over of the powerplay before Asif Ali and Faheem Ashraf came to rescue.

This cracking win would have certainly boosted United’s confidence and the side will be eager to make it two in a row.
