KXIP vs KOL Dream11 Prediction: Kings XI Punjab are already behind from the rest of the pack even before the half-way mark of the season. They have lost 5 of the 6 matches and have made very difficult for them to climb the mountain now. But as we have seen in the past, teams can get on a roll sometimes with some inspiration from one or two players. KXIP do have enough match-winners in their ranks, so taking them for granted won’t be a good idea for Kolkata Knight Riders today. We will preview KXIP vs KOL Dream11 contest.
In the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab had one of the worst on-field performances this season. Bowling first, bowlers were really poor to start with and belligerent David Warner & Jonny Bairstow didn’t need second invitation. The pair took KXIP bowling attack to cleaners as lack of confidence was clearly evident in the bowlers. Both put on 160 runs in 15 overs before young Ravi Bishnoi had them both on the same score. KXIP made a comeback of sorts after that with Arshdeep Singh also taking a couple of scalps but 201 were still very much above par. In reply, Mayank Agarwal was part of a terrible confusion and ended up getting run-out. KL Rahul also went soon after as only Nicholas Pooran batted like a real possibility of the successful chase. He showed his class and set the ground ablaze with his power-hitting. He made 77 off 37 balls but no one else was there to support him as KXIP were bowled out for just 132 runs.
Kolkata Knight Riders are coming off from a win against Chennai Super Kings in their last match. Rahul Tripathi was given a chance to bat at his preferred position as an opener and he didn’t look back after that. He batted with right mix of aggression and caution as he slammed 81 runs from 51 balls. He was the major contributor for KKR as others could not get going at all. KKR were bowled out for 167 runs on the last ball of their innings. In the defense, Dinesh Karthik took completely new strategy and found success. He kept Sunil Narine and Andre Russell for the later part of the innings and ignored helpful match-ups for Sunil Narine with CSK top order. CSK were unable to accelerate against the quality death-bowling and KKR ended up winning by 10 runs.
In head-to-head comparisons, Kolkata Knight Riders are comfortably ahead against Kings XI Punjab with 17 victories from 25 matches between them. KXIP were good enough on 8 occasions. In last 5 matches as well, KKR are leading the charge by 3-2 over KXIP. KKR were bowled out for just 109 chasing 133 against KXIP at the same venue in 2014.
Abu Dhabi has been quite different from the other two venues in terms of characteristics of the surface. Pitches here have begun to get slower with each passing game and larger boundaries are also helping bowlers’ cause. We have still seen reasonable totals in the evening games here but scores came down significantly in the afternoon game last weekend. The heat factor will also play its part in the afternoon match today.

As per our Today Match Predictions, Kolkata Knight Riders will obviously start as favourites keeping in mind recent forms of both the teams. The graph of KKR has risen while KXIP have faced four consecutive defeats in as many matches. In terms of depth and ability in squads also, KKR are superior. But with Chris Gayle coming in today in the playing XI, KXIP supporters would be hoping for a turnaround in Abu Dhabi.
