Match: Lucknow vs Bangalore, Indian T20 League
Date: 25th May, 2022
Time: 07:30 PM IST
Venue: Eden Gardens, Kolkata
The time has finally come! One of these teams will go home in the upcoming Eliminator Round between Lucknow and Bangalore. Both the teams have proved to be epic entertainers between the wickets.
Lucknow is at number 3 in the points table, which means that the team will have to face the eliminators.
KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock put on one of the most amazing performances in the history of the Indian T20 League. In the ‘make-it-or-break-it’ match against Kolkata, Lucknow broke multiple records that night. Rahul and de Kock made the record for the highest runs for the first-wicket partnership (210 runs). Moreover, de Kock absolutely butchered Kolkata bowlers and scored 140 runs off just 70 balls. KL Rahul also held his end and scored 68 runs for the team. It was the ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ performance of these two batters that didn’t give the rest of the batting lineup a chance to come down to the crease.
The Lucknow bowlers did well to defend the massive total of 210 runs. The match was so tight that KL Rahul’s team won the match by just 2 runs. Surely, this historic win would really elevate Lucknow’s confidence to lift the trophy. However, one mistake and the team will be knocked out of the tournament.
It was a blessing to see Virat Kohli coming back to his former self. The former Bangalore captain finally put on some runs on the scoreboard. Kohli scored 73 runs in the last match, and gave some hopes to his team moving towards to the eliminator round.
The batting unit of the Bangalore team has been fairly strong. However, in the recent matches, the team has suffered minor hiccups with off-key performances of the batters. In the last match, the batting unit looked pretty strong as the skipper Faf du Plessis joined the party and held the fort alongside Kohli. All-rounder Glenn Maxwell also showed his worth and mesmerised the crowd with his brilliant ball-hitting skills. The Australian batter remained not out and scored 40 runs off just 18 balls.
Wanindu Hasaranga has been a blessing for the team. His bowling skills have helped the team from no-hope situations. He is currently the highest wicket-taker of the Bangalore (24 wickets) side and the second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament.
The pitch at Eden Gardens is considered to be a better batting track although spinners tend to come into action as the match progresses. The fast bowlers also have had some success on this pitch early on ever since the soil used for this pitch was changed.
