The fifteenth fixture of New Zealand’s Super Smash T20 will witness Northern Knights and Wellington Firebirds locking horns of the second time in this season. Both the sides will go head to head at Basin Reserve, Wellington on Saturday morning.
Placed at the top, Knights have accumulated 16 points from four wins outs of five fixtures. They are on a three-match winning streak and the only defeat came in the second fixture against Central Districts where hey faced 5 wicket defeats while defending 156 runs on the board.
Wellington is placed just beneath Knights at the second spot with 10 points coming off two wins and two losses in five games. They had a rough start to the campaign but have bounced back well. After winning the toss, Wellington opted to bowl and invited Knights to set the target. With the help of skipper Dean Brownlie’s 99 of 46 deliveries and Tim Siefert’s 46 of 28, Knights posted a massive total of 215-6 in 20 overs.
Coming to chase, Wellington got bowled out for 170 in 18.1 overs falling short by 45 runs. Anton Devcich was the pick of the bowler for the Knights finishing with 4-27. Ish Sodhi and D Mitchell also shared two wickets each.
