NZ vs PAK Dream11: There are three big tests to be played in this year’s Boxing Day and the first of all will be played between New Zealand and Pakistan here at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. After a disappointing start to their campaign, Pakistan had one consolation win in the last T20I but eventually lost the series. New Zealand have been tremendous at home in test matches and their last loss was against South Africa almost 5 years ago. That tells the skill level they possess in home conditions. Tom Latham provides solidity at the top with star batsmen Williamson and Taylor to follow. They have a world-class wicketkeeper in the form of BJ Watling who can score runs with the lower order. Southee, Boult and Wagner are among the best triplets of fast bowling currently and with young Kyle Jamieson now joining the ranks, the bowling looks as threatening as it can be in these conditions.

Pakistan meanwhile, are not having a great tour. Starting from the bio-secure bubble breaches, very few things have gone their way. The win in the last T20I will give them some confidence but Test cricket is totally different and they are against an opposition who are formidable at home. With regular captain Babar Azam being ruled out of the first test, the onus comes upon the experienced players like Shan Masood and Azhar Ali to put up a tough fight at the top. Skipper Rizwan showed resilience in tests in England and looked good in the last T20I. Bowling is Pakistan’s strength and with Shaheen Afridi, Abbas and young Naseem Shah, they can possess a threat to the hosts. Pakistan will need to put runs on the board in order to challenge the Kiwis.

New Zealand will start the match as favorites. They are a formidable team at home and possess a perfect fast bowling attack for these conditions. The recent series win against WI was a perfect example of that. The batting looks skillful and has the experience to face any attack. Pakistan though will miss the services of their regular skipper Babar Azam. Their strength is the bowling which has the variety to go past a strong NZ team.
