PBKS vs RCB IPL: IPL’s Match no 26 between Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Head to Head both the teams have played 26 games against each other, out of which Punjab kings have won 14 and RCB have won 12. Below is the analysis of both the teams including their key players.
Punjab Kings have won only 2 matches so far out of the 6 they’ve played. Their major problem lies with the middle order in the last couple of games. Both the overseas batsman Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran failed to perform completely unlike the last season. In 6 matches Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran scored only 119 runs and 28 runs respectively which is considered as the worst. Deepak Hooda so far has performed in only one match and apart from that one game he also failed to perform. In 6 matches he scored 110 runs with an average of 27.50. In place of Nicholas Pooran team should give a chance to the Number 1 T20 batsman David Malan.
The team’s entire batting lineup depends on its openers. KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal are the only two batsmen who performed well so far. KL Rahul has scored 240 runs with an average of 48 and Mayank Agarwal scored 161 runs with an average of 26.83.
In the last match against KKR, their entire batting order collapsed and the team got all out on just 123 runs on board.
Punjab’s all-rounder Moises Henriques also failed to perform in all the 3 games which he has played. He only scored 16 runs so far and took 1 wicket.
Punjab’s backbone is their middle-order batsmen i.e Gayle, Pooran, Hooda, and Henriques. If Punjab wants to improve their chances of winning then these players need to score big.
If we analyze their bowling, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Shami, and Ravi Bishnoi have impressed the most so far. Though the economy rate could have been better to pressurize the opponent.
Overall the team is not looking good with their recent form, and if they want to win from here they should have made some changes in the team and the tactics.
1.KL Rahul :
Kl Rahul is the only reliable batsman in Punjab’s batting lineup. If he continues to perform according to his recent form, he can be the match-winner for Punjab. His record against RCB is also really impressive, he has scored 369 runs in 8 matches with an average of 73.8.
2. Chris Gayle :
Chris Gayle is the kind of batsman who needs only one good inning to get back in the rhythm. Punjab desperately wants him to score the way he scored in last season. He is capable to win the match for the Punjab single-handedly.
3. Mohammad Shami :
Shami is the only experienced bowler in the Punjab lineup. He knows how to pick wickets, if he will be successful in taking the wickets of Padikkal and Kohli, Punjab can stop RCB score big.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
RCB’s performance this year is just like a magical dream. They’ve won 5 out of their 6 matches and lost only one. The biggest reason for their win is the perfect mixture of performance from their star players and uncapped players.
In the opening slot, Virat Kohli and Padikkal are successful in providing a solid start. In Middle-order, AB De Villiers played match-winning knocks and then Glenn Maxwell, who failed to perform last year with Punjab’s franchise is playing exactly opposite this season. He is the highest run-scorer for RCB in this tournament so far with 223 runs with an average of 44.60.
In bowling, Kyle Jamieson, Mohammad Siraj, and Harshal Patel provide them with good strength. Harshal Patel is outstanding so far with 17 wickets under his belt in 6 games that he has played. His bowling in the middle and death overs are fantastic. Apart from that one over where Jadeja hit him for 36 runs he has been the most impressive bowler in this season.
RCB’s worry lies in the performance of Yuzi Chahal. He has been a top performer for them for the last couple of years but in this season, he has not performed according to his caliber so far. In 6 matches he has taken only 3 wickets. RCB wants him to perform well in the upcoming fixtures.
RCB is playing well this season, they only need to continue it and try to cement their spot in the playoffs as early as possible.
1. Virat Kohli
Against Punjab, Virat has scored 681 runs so far in the IPL. His current form is also very impressive, although he got out early in the last game still he is dependable when it comes to putting runs on the scoreboard.
2. AB De Villiers
In the last match, ABD single-handedly won it for RCB by scoring 75 not-out runs. So far He has scored 692 runs against the Punjab Kings in the IPL. Mr 360 can not only play sensibly but also can score runs with a good strike rate which makes him really dangerous.
3. Yuzi Chahal
As far as his recent form is concerned, so far he has not performed well with the ball. But his record against Punjab Kings is really good and that’s why he can be the game-changer for RCB. He has taken 21 wickets In IPL against them. It will be great to see whether he can get back in his form against his favorite hunting team.
Royal Challengers Bangalore are the favorites to win this game, but if you remember the last season, Punjab won both the games against the RCB. RCB has to be really cautious with them. In the last match against Delhi Capitals, RCB had won only by 1 run. In this match, if they want to win they have to make sure that their top 4 batters will score some good runs. For Punjab, finding the right balance in the playing 11 and performance from the middle order will decide their fate against the RCB.
